We demand our drive chains to bring our packed motorcycles over all the bad roads and paths. We ride through rivers and deserts, stress every single sealing ring with dust, sand, water and salt. Therefore the chain must be maintained to withstand the high demands for a long period of time.

It is logically only a matter of time until wear makes itself visible on the chain and sprockets. We use chain spray or chain oil to minimize the friction between chain and the sprocket Teeth. Today every motorcycle chain is built with a permanent grease filling for internal lubrication. Exceptions are only chains used in racing. The sealing rings or O-rings mean a slight loss of power and for racers mileage is not a high priority.

Therefore the chain should not be washed with too much water pressure, otherwise you squeeze the water through the O-ring and rinse out the grease inside the chain.

Tirox offers with the 360 ° brush a gentle but thorough tool to cleaning the chain. Once you twisted the spiral brush on to the chain, it cleans the chain all around in one go. Conventional brushes reach maximum of 3 sides of the chain in one go.

Important things to know

To dissolve the chain spray / oil and dirt, chain cleaner is recommended. This is definitely the best way to save the O-rings.

Gasoline must NOT be used for chain cleaning as it will destroy the O-rings and make them fragile.

Diesel can be used if necessary, but leaves oil residue.

Attention – if brake pads get soaked with diesel they absorb the oil and will NEVER have the normal braking force again. With diesel soiled brake pads must be replaced for safety!

We definitely are not the kind of riders who wash our bikes all the time, but we want to put as many miles on the relatively expensive chain kits and thus save money. With the 360 ° brush we have found a simple and efficient tool, which fits into every travel toolkit!
