Weather
Up in the mountains the nights were already pretty cold (even risks of snow) but the weather was mostly good. Just one day with rain. Down close to the Indian border it can pretty hot and humid.

Xenia: Cartilage damage on the left middle finger because of a fall

XTZ: main light stopped working but was an easy fix with a replacement of a new bulp

XTR: the panniers needed some bending as they got a hit when Xenia had a fall

XTR / XTZ: Valve clearance adjustments and cleaning the air filters
Road Conditions
The road up to Muktinath is really bad and not an easy ride on a big motorbike, the road between Pokhara and Kathmandu is a tarmac road in a pretty bad condition in some places. After Kathmandu the roads toward India are pretty good.
Paperwork
Visa: It is easy to get the visa at the border

Carnet de Passage: You need to have the Carnet de Passage to get into the country by motorbike or car

Insurance: We did not get one and we don’t think that there is a possibility to get one
Notable
Nepal is a great place for a break from India. It feels more quiet and relaxed. Specially Pokhara is the perfect place to have some days off and stuff your face with food you have not eaten for a long time.
Important information
Here some very country specific information:
- Nepal is very easy to travel even with your own vehicle. No special things to take care off as far as we experienced.
- In Kathmandu you have many possibilities to ship your motorbike to another destination like Thailand, Malaysia or New Zealand. We recommend using their service instead of an Indian company as people have much better experience than with the companies in India.
